WHAT WE FIX

Common Clutch Problems We Repair On-Site

From slipping and dragging to hydraulic failures and worn release bearings — our mobile clutch mechanics diagnose and repair the full range of clutch faults at your home or workplace. No recovery, no waiting rooms, no surprise fees.

Slipping Clutch

Engine revs climb but the car doesn't pull away properly — especially uphill or under load. Caused by a worn friction plate or contaminated clutch surface. We diagnose on-site and replace the clutch kit at your location.

Clutch Dragging

Gears grind when shifting, or first and reverse won't engage cleanly. Usually a hydraulic fault — air in the system, a failing slave cylinder, or a stretched cable. Most cases are repaired in 1–2 hours.

Juddering & Shudder

The car judders or vibrates as you release the pedal. Typically a worn dual mass flywheel or oil-contaminated friction plate. We carry the diagnostic gear to identify the exact cause before any work begins.

Hard or Stiff Pedal

Pedal feels heavy, sticky, or won't fully return after pressing. Common culprits are a failing release bearing, pressure plate, or hydraulic component. We carry replacement parts in the van for fast turnaround.

Master & Slave Cylinder Failure

Soft pedal, fluid pooling under the bell housing, or pedal sinking to the floor. Hydraulic system failure. We replace cylinders and bleed the clutch line on-site — no recovery to a workshop required.

High Biting Point

Clutch only engages right at the top of pedal travel — a clear sign of advanced wear. Left untreated it can damage the flywheel and turn a routine repair into an expensive replacement. Book a diagnostic before it fails.

Clutch went on a Monday morning. Called Mobile Clutch Repair and they were with me within two hours. Fixed on the spot, price was exactly what they quoted. Absolutely brilliant service.

Had my clutch replaced on my driveway — saved me a fortune compared to the dealership quote. The mechanic was professional, tidy and explained everything clearly. Won't go anywhere else.

Dual mass flywheel and full clutch kit done at my workplace car park. No fuss, no recovery fees. Back behind the wheel same day. Can't ask for more than that.

Used them twice now — once for a diagnosis and once for a full replacement. Both times they were on time, honest and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Slipping clutch on my Transit. They came out the next morning, diagnosed a worn friction plate and had it sorted in three hours. Solid warranty included too. Great guys.

Really impressed. I was nervous about having work done outside a garage but the van is fully kitted out and the whole job looked incredibly professional. Would definitely recommend.

FAQ

Clutch Repair Questions

Common questions about our mobile clutch repair service. Can't find your answer? Call us directly — we're happy to talk you through anything.

  • Clutch repair means fixing a specific failed component — the master or slave cylinder, hydraulic line, release bearing, or clutch cable — while leaving the rest of the clutch in place. Clutch replacement means swapping the entire clutch kit (friction plate, pressure plate, release bearing). We'll diagnose your car on-site and recommend whichever fix is right for your situation, never upselling work you don't need.

  • The most common issues we see are clutch slipping (worn friction plate), clutch dragging (hydraulic faults or stretched cable), juddering or shudder when pulling away (worn dual mass flywheel or oil-contaminated clutch), a hard or stiff pedal (release bearing or pressure plate), and hydraulic system failures (failing master or slave cylinder, fluid leaks, soft pedal). All of these can be diagnosed and repaired at your location.

  • Often, yes. If the fault is hydraulic — a failing master or slave cylinder, a leaking line, or air in the system — we can replace just that component and bleed the system on-site. Same goes for a worn release bearing or stretched cable. However, if the friction plate, pressure plate, or flywheel is worn, a full clutch replacement is the only safe long-term fix.

  • A slipping clutch typically degrades within a few weeks to complete failure once you first notice it. Driving on a slipping or juddering clutch can also damage the flywheel, turning a straightforward clutch repair into a much more expensive flywheel and clutch replacement. If you've noticed any symptoms, book a diagnostic call-out as soon as possible.

  • Hydraulic repairs (master or slave cylinder replacement, bleeding the clutch, fixing fluid leaks) typically take 1 to 2 hours. A full clutch replacement is usually 3 to 5 hours depending on the vehicle. We'll give you an honest time estimate when you book so you can plan your day around the repair.

  • For the majority of common vehicles we carry standard clutch kits, master and slave cylinders, release bearings, and hydraulic fluids in the van. For specialist or older vehicles we'll order the correct parts in advance so the repair is completed in a single visit — never two trips, never extra call-out fees.
