MOBILE CLUTCH HYDRAULIC SERVICE

Mobile Clutch Hydraulic Repair. Pedal Back. On The Spot.

Soft pedal, pedal sinking to the floor, or no biting point at all? Most clutch pedal failures are hydraulic, not mechanical — a failing master cylinder, slave cylinder, or air in the clutch line. We replace cylinders, repair hydraulic leaks, and bleed the system at your home or workplace. Same-day call-outs across Essex, Kent, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and London.

WHAT WE REPAIR

Four Components. One System.

Your clutch hydraulic system has four failure points — and only one of them usually fails at a time. We diagnose which, then replace just the failed part instead of selling you a whole new clutch.

COMPONENT 01

Clutch Master Cylinder

ALSO KNOWN ASCMCPedal CylinderTop Cylinder

Sits behind the clutch pedal. Converts your foot pressure into hydraulic pressure and pushes fluid down the line to the slave cylinder.

SIGNS IT'S FAILED
  • Pedal sinks slowly to the floor
  • Soft or spongy pedal feel
  • Fluid pooling in the driver footwell
COMPONENT 02

Clutch Slave Cylinder

ALSO KNOWN ASCSCConcentric SlaveBell-Housing Cylinder

Sits at the gearbox end. Receives hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder and physically pushes the release bearing to disengage the clutch.

SIGNS IT'S FAILED
  • Hydraulic fluid leaking around the gearbox
  • Pedal goes to the floor with no resistance
  • Clutch fails to disengage — gears crunch
COMPONENT 03

Clutch Hydraulic Line

ALSO KNOWN ASClutch PipeClutch HoseFluid Line

The high-pressure pipe and hose assembly that carries hydraulic fluid from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder.

SIGNS IT'S FAILED
  • Visible fluid leak along the pipe run
  • Cracked, corroded, or chafed pipework
  • Pedal pressure suddenly drops mid-journey
COMPONENT 04

Hydraulic Fluid & Bleed

ALSO KNOWN ASClutch FluidDOT 4 / 5.1 Brake FluidAir-in-the-Line

The clutch shares fluid with the brake reservoir. Old, contaminated, or aerated fluid causes inconsistent pedal feel and clutch drag.

SIGNS IT'S FAILED
  • Pedal feel changes when system warms up
  • Inconsistent biting point each time
  • Pedal slowly returns after being pressed

Not sure which component has failed?

We diagnose on-site and replace only what's actually broken — never the whole clutch when a £150 cylinder will do.

Clutch went on a Monday morning. Called Mobile Clutch Repair and they were with me within two hours. Fixed on the spot, price was exactly what they quoted. Absolutely brilliant service.

Had my clutch replaced on my driveway — saved me a fortune compared to the dealership quote. The mechanic was professional, tidy and explained everything clearly. Won't go anywhere else.

Dual mass flywheel and full clutch kit done at my workplace car park. No fuss, no recovery fees. Back behind the wheel same day. Can't ask for more than that.

Used them twice now — once for a diagnosis and once for a full replacement. Both times they were on time, honest and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Slipping clutch on my Transit. They came out the next morning, diagnosed a worn friction plate and had it sorted in three hours. Solid warranty included too. Great guys.

Really impressed. I was nervous about having work done outside a garage but the van is fully kitted out and the whole job looked incredibly professional. Would definitely recommend.

FAQ

Clutch Hydraulic Repair Questions

Common questions about clutch master cylinders, slave cylinders, hydraulic lines, and on-site bleeding.

  • The clutch master cylinder (CMC) sits behind the clutch pedal — when you press the pedal, it pushes hydraulic fluid through the clutch line. The slave cylinder (CSC, or concentric slave cylinder on most modern cars) sits at the gearbox end and converts that fluid pressure into the physical movement that disengages the clutch. Either can fail independently, and we can replace just the failed component without touching the rest of the clutch.

  • A soft, sinking, or spongy clutch pedal is almost always a hydraulic problem. The most common causes are a failing master cylinder (internal seal leak), a failing slave cylinder (external fluid leak, often visible at the bell housing), air in the hydraulic system, contaminated hydraulic fluid, or a perished clutch line. We'll diagnose which on-site and replace only what's actually failed.

  • In most cases, yes. If the friction plate, pressure plate, and release bearing are still in good condition, we can replace just the failed hydraulic component (master cylinder, slave cylinder, or line) and bleed the system — saving you the cost and time of a full clutch replacement. If the hydraulic fault has caused the clutch to slip or burn, we'll let you know honestly before any work starts.

  • Yes. Every hydraulic repair includes a full clutch hydraulic bleed using fresh manufacturer-spec brake fluid (DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 depending on the vehicle), removing all air and contaminated fluid from the master cylinder, line, and slave cylinder. We use proper pressure-bleed equipment — not just a pedal-pump method — so the system is properly purged before we leave.

  • A clutch master cylinder replacement typically takes 1 to 2 hours including bleeding the system. An external slave cylinder is similar — around 1 to 2 hours. A concentric slave cylinder (the type fitted inside the bell housing on most modern cars) requires gearbox removal and takes 3 to 5 hours, the same as a clutch replacement. We'll confirm which type your vehicle has when you book.

  • Hydraulic repairs are usually significantly cheaper than a full clutch replacement because the parts cost is lower and the labour time is shorter (except for concentric slave cylinders, which require gearbox removal). The exact price depends on which component has failed and your vehicle. We provide a fixed written quote on-site before any work begins — no call-out fees on top.
